ICS Review - SnapLok Equipment

I would firstly like to start off this review by introducing myself. My name is Clive Scott and I am the owner of C W J SCOTT CHIMNEY SWEEPS based in Dartford, Kent, UK. I am a registered member and mentor at the Institute of Chimney Sweeps and also recently joined the ICS team as a course tutor at their Training Centre in Maidstone, Kent.

I was recently given the opportunity to try out, over a period of weeks, Snaplok’s Rotary Power Sweeping equipment with the view to giving my honest and unbiased opinion on it on behalf of, and for, the Institute of Chimney Sweeps.

I will start by mentioning that I have in the past, and to this present day, use other manufacturer’s power sweeping equipment and up until now have been fairly impressed with the way that most of them have performed. Over the past few weeks I have only used the Snaplok equipment and must say that I am very impressed with it.

Snaplok’s ease of use was excellent.

“No” sticking of the button lock mechanism, unlike some, was the first thing that impressed me.

Its double button system also gave me a lot of reassurance on tough jobs. Some single button systems I have used in the past, have at times, tended to slip out of the mechanism on the way down flues resulting in wasting valuable time in having to retrieve them. I am pleased to say that Snaplok’s connections have not done this on any occasion which is very reassuring. The ease of use attaching the rods together under working conditions was excellent as was connecting and disconnecting the drill attachment.

Snaplok’s maintenance was very quick and easy.

After every sweep I give the rods a quick wipe down and clean using WD40 and they are still looking in very good condition. All the Bullet and Power Whip attachments I was given are also still in excellent shape and showing very little signs of wear. Above all and most importantly, in my opinion, there has been no sticking of the locking mechanism to date like others.

Snaplok’s flue cleaning performance was excellent.

I had the opportunity on various occasions, via means of CCTV Camera, to inspect flues I had swept using the Snaplok equipment and was very impressed with the cleanliness of the flues.

Summing up.

I have swept ( 83 ) chimney flues, of various shapes and sizes, using the Snaplok equipment and have found every sweep to be fast, efficient and trouble free. Its cleaning efficiency is excellent as is its ease of use.

I would have no hesitancy in recommending and or demonstrating Snaplok chimney sweeping equipment at any forthcoming ICS course if required to do so.
